Why choose MDF shutters?
MDF is the most popular material in our shutter range. It is engineered to have the same high-quality finish as hardwood but has the advantage of overcoming hardwood’s natural drawbacks.
- The most economical material in our range
- Difficult to distinguish from more expensive materials
- Resistant to warping, fading and general wear and tear
- Easy to clean, with a polypropylene coating
MDF (medium density fibreboard) is our bestselling shutter material. It is affordable and is created with modern engineering techniques that ensure strength and durability. It is finished to a high quality with an almost indistinguishable finish from our more expensive hardwood options. Thanks to its polypropylene coating, MDF is extremely hard-wearing and is resistant to chips, cracks, fading and warping.
Are MDF shutters suitable for my windows?
MDF shutters are suitable for most windows up to 200cm in height. Used throughout the home and perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, and playrooms. They are hard-wearing, easy to clean, resistant to moisture and never need re-painting or re-finishing. MDF is available for all our shutter styles apart from our shaped shutters.
What quality should I expect?
MDF shutters are a solid wood product created by breaking down timber into a powder which is then mixed with wax and resin. Engineered cores and mortice and tenon joinery ensure product strength. The finish of our MDF shutters is unique with a cutting-edge polypropylene coating and generally lasts longer than any other painted material.
